Description

Kerala Sambar is a traditional and beloved dish from the coastal state of Kerala in southern India. It is a hearty, flavorful, and slightly tangy lentil-based curry that is typically made with toor dal.  Sambar is a staple in Kerala cuisine and is often served with rice, idli, dosa, or medu vada, making it a versatile dish that can be enjoyed at any meal of the day.
The foundation of Kerala Sambar is toor dal, which provides a smooth, creamy texture to the curry. The lentils are cooked until soft and then blended with the vegetables and spices to create a hearty, filling dish. It has a distinctive tangy flavor, which comes from the addition of tamarind.

  • Heat 2 tbsp. of oil in a skillet, add 250g of sambar cut vegetables and sauté for 2 minutes.
  • Add Cookmaid Kerala Sambar and 400 ml of water, then bring it to a boil
  • Cook the vegetables until they are fully cooked and reach the desired consistency.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.

 * Add salt if required. Add green chilli to make it spicy.
